The World Maritime University
The World Maritime University (WMU) was founded in 1983 within the framework of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, as its premier centre of excellence for maritime postgraduate education, research and capability development. The University offers unique postgraduate programmes, conducts wide-ranging research in maritime and ocean-related studies, and advances maritime capability development in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The WMU–Lloyd's Register Foundation Maritime Observatory is a new strategic initiative established to strengthen the availability, analysis and use of high-quality evidence in support of maritime policy and decision-making. The Observatory will combine data analytics, evidence synthesis and policy-relevant research to generate insights on important and emerging maritime issues.
